Cuaca Ekstrem, Harga Cabai Merah di Bengkulu Tengah Naik Jadi Rp80.000 per Kilogram

BENGKULU, BETVNEWS - As a result of the extreme weather that has hit Bengkulu Province in recent times, red chili farmers have experienced crop failure, this has caused the selling price of chili in Bengkulu Province, especially in Central Bengkulu Regency to experience a fairly drastic increase.

One of the chili and vegetable traders at the Taba Penanjung Thursday Market, Arwan, said that the selling price of red chili had increased to IDR 70 thousand per kilogram compared to last week.

"All types of chili have increased, such as curly red chili, the price is IDR 70 thousand per kilogram, up IDR 10 thousand from last week," said Arwan.

Meanwhile, cayenne pepper is sold at a price of IDR 80 thousand per kilogram, ivory chili or devil chili is sold at a price of IDR 80 thousand per kilogram.

"Currently, the cheapest is green cayenne pepper with a selling price of IDR 40 thousand per kilogram," he said.

Arwan admitted that the increase in chili prices was due to the extreme weather that occurred, causing many chilies that should have been harvested to rot.

"Many of the farmers' chilies are rotting, so supply is reduced, but demand remains the same, so the price automatically goes up," explained Arwan.

The soaring price of chilies has also caused people's purchasing power to decrease compared to usual.

"Those who buy it are still busy, but the amount purchased has decreased, if they usually buy 1 kilogram, now they only buy half or a quarter of a kilogram," he concluded.
